Corvair Museum
The Corvair Museum was formed in 1994 to house and display Corvair historical and educational material. Property and income for the museum are solely from donations, primarily from CORSA members. Other individuals and organizations have contributed or provided items on loan to the museum. Exhibits at the museum include vehicles, mechanical displays, literature and artwork.
Until 1999, the Corvair Museum was located in Richmond, Virginia. From 1999 until 2002, the museum was closed. As of August 25, 2002, the Corvair Museum is now officially located in the Ypsilanti Automotive Heritage Collection (YAHC) of Ypsilanti, Michigan! The Corvair Museum is operated and maintained by the volunteers from the Corvair Preservation Foundation.
The Ypsilanti Automotive Heritage Collection, as its name implies, features automobiles and related items with ties to Ypsilanti. It has many first-rate exhibits and the feel of the place is very authentic--not antiseptic or dark like so many museums. Instead, there is a genuine nostalgic feel and there is a lot of natural light, especially in the gallery containing Corvair materials.

GM Heritage Center
The Heritage Center, which is in an industrial park in Sterling Heights just north of the GM Technical Center, is designed to help GM employees, scholars, analysts and the media with researching the company's rich history.
Among the vehicles housed at the center are past and current concept vehicles and historically significant vehicles from various eras such as the 1931 V-16 Cadillac, 1949 Buick Roadmaster, and 1953 Chevrolet Corvette.
A variety of early GM powertrains are featured, including one of the few remaining copper-cooled motors in the world, introduced by Chevrolet in 1923.

2006 Springfest
Held in Helen, GA.
Even though there was a threat of rain all weekend more than 300 people showed
up. Friday started with lots of shopping from both the used parts vendors and
Clark’s Corvair Parts. Friday evening was the hospitality party with hamburgers,
hot dogs, chips, chili, etc. Then it was time for the children’s valve cover
races. Every child under age 13 that wanted to race was given and car and the
brackets were setup. First through third places were determined and there was a
multi-way tie for fourth. Everyone went home a winner. That was followed by the
regular valve cover races, some gokart action at the local track and the night
was capped off in the Hospitality room.
Friday night/Saturday morning the rain rolled through and by the time most got
up to clean their cars for the Concours and Participants Choice shows the rain
was gone. There was a brief shower late morning but it quickly passed.
Twenty-seven cars lined up to be judged in the Conours and another 42 were
nearby competing in Participants choice. I think the quality of cars showing up
is getting better every year.
Three tech sessions and several DVDs were shown throughout the day.
Chuck Armer led the Car Caravan through the North Georgia Mountains to round out
the afternoon. Then everyone gathered at the festhalle for the home cooked
turkey and ham and all the fixins banquet and the awards ceremony. Not only are
the cars getting better visually for the shows, but they must be getting better
mechanically too. This years hard luck award went to Walter Carter with a broken
windshield. It is quite a testament to everyone’s preparation that a broken
windshield was the worst thing that happened to anyone on the way to the show. I
hope I didn’t just jinx myself ;-)
The night ended in the hospitality room. Several groups got together for
breakfast Sunday morning and then it was good-bye until next year.

Great weekend of autocrossing in St Augustine. Temperatures around 70 and mostly sunny both days. Two days of fast racing. Grassroots Motor Sports magazine came by on Saturday to take some photos. Hopefully in the near future they will run some of them in the magazine.
As you can see from the photos I took an of course excursion and picked up a little mud. I did manage to win first in IS-5.
I have posted some photos on my WEb site http://corvair.us

2005 SECC Autocross
St Augustine, FL.
There aren't a whole bunch because I spent most of the time either driving or working.
Instead of the normal red mist Leslie found the white mist with an off-track excursion into the water in Sarah's convertible.
After Friday's cool overcast day the sun came out for Saturday and Sunday and we had two beautiful days of track time. Eddie Meadow's designed two fast flowing courses that were a lot of fun and very fast. Saturday morning was a test and tune and then there were timed runs on Saturday Afternoon and Sunday morning with additional fun runs after the timed sessions. I think every one got their fill of runs.
